Path of Fire

Skimmer

Water, quicksand, and dangerous ground

The skimmer lets you hover over hostile terrain and water. It is a calming exploration mount, especially across the Elon Riverlands and later water-heavy maps.

Collection walkthrough

Your unlock path

1

Travel to Elon Riverlands

Head to the Elon Riverlands and approach Skimmer Ranch in the center-west of the map.

2

Unlock the ranch heart

Use Canyon Jumping or approach from the south to reach the ranch and complete its renown heart.

3

Claim the skimmer

Buy the skimmer from the ranch task vendor, then train its hovering improvements as you explore.

After the unlock

Make the most of your Skimmer

Hover above water and quicksand
Later training improves endurance and rescue utility
Use it when the route is dangerous rather than forcing a jump

Field note · The skimmer's water travel makes it a very useful companion for exploring after Path of Fire.

Full unlock guide

The Skimmer Ranch sits in the Elon Riverlands. Start with the Raptor route and use Canyon Jumping where needed to reach the ranch cleanly.

Help around Skimmer Ranch until the renown heart is complete. This unlocks the task vendor that sells the account-wide mount.

3

Claim the Skimmer

Purchase the Skimmer and use it immediately on water, quicksand, sulphurous terrain, and other ground hazards while you work toward its masteries.

Mastery field guide

Learn where hovering wins

Read the ground

Choose the Skimmer when the terrain is the obstacle: water, quicksand, lava-adjacent paths, and damaging surfaces are where it saves the most time.

Build endurance habits

Later masteries improve how long and how freely you can hover. Avoid spending endurance before a long hazard crossing.

Use rescue movement

The Skimmer is not only for speed. Its stable movement makes it ideal for recovering from a missed jump or guiding friends across rough terrain.
