Crafting & Economy

Tyria rewards curiosity as much as combat. Treat crafting and gold as tools for reaching the adventures and collections you care about—not as a race against other players.

Inventory is part of your adventure

A calm inventory makes every session smoother. Deposit crafting materials when you finish an activity, salvage equipment you do not need, and take a moment to read unfamiliar items before selling them. Some materials belong to collections or future crafting goals.

You do not need to keep everything forever. Use the bank and material storage for things with a purpose, then free space for the next adventure. The goal is clarity, not perfect organization.

Craft for a goal, not because you feel forced

Each crafting discipline offers different rewards, but no new player needs every discipline immediately. Look at your next goal first: a gear set, a collection, consumables for group content, a guild request, or a cosmetic project. That goal tells you whether crafting is useful right now.

Leveling a discipline can be satisfying, but it is optional. Buy a useful item when that is the better choice, and craft when the journey or result is meaningful to you.

Gold supports your choices

Gold is most helpful when it removes friction: buying a missing material, preparing for a group run, or completing the last step of a collection. Set a simple goal instead of spending every reward as soon as it arrives.

The Trading Post is a player market, so prices move. Compare the instant buy price with listing an item for sale, and remember that waiting or gathering can be a perfectly good decision.
